Finding a Family is an ongoing personal project that delves into the intimate and complex experience of belonging to a family within the context of a home. Inspired by my own upbringing —marked by the absence of a traditional family structure — I embarked on a journey of self-exploration. This endeavor involves creating self-portraits in which I insert myself into the lives of various families who have graciously opened their homes and lives to me. Through this process, I not only observe and document the intricacies of family structures and dynamics across diverse cultures and environments but also immerse myself in the lived experience of familial connection—an experience I was denied in my formative years.

This project serves a dual purpose: it allows me to analyze the nuances of how families function, interact, and define themselves in different settings, while simultaneously offering me the profound opportunity to feel, even temporarily, what it means to be part of a family. By blending self-reflection with artistic expression,

Finding a Family becomes both a mirror and a window—reflecting my personal longing and illuminating the universal essence of kinship.
